Secondary Memory: Discrete separate storage device such as Hard Disk, SSDs etc
For the memory upgrade services, we generally refer to Primary memory, and there are two types: RAM & ROM.
RAM also known as Random Access Memory is a Volatile memory, which means that It loses all its memory when it looses power, i.e. if you turn off your device, RAM will lose every data that had been store for operational purposes. It stores data that is required for frequent and repeated quick processing. RAM provides applications and softwares a place to store and access data on a short-term basis.
There are different types of RAM which includes DRAM & SRAM.
DRAM stands for Dynamic RAM. It is the most common type of RAM found in computers. The oldest RAM is was called single data ram (SDR) DRAM. New computers use Dual Data Rate (DDR) DRAM. You’ll find different versions of DDR includes DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, and they have better performance and are more energy efficient than regular DDR.
SRAM is another type of RAM, which is also known as Static RAM. They are faster than DRAM but are more expensive and bulkier. They consists of 6 transistor in each cell. It’s functionality differs with their environment, it works as a Memory in a high level server system and as a data cache within a CPU.
DRAM tend to utilize high amount of energy than the SRAM as they constantly refreshes itself when the device turned off and turned back on, but the SRAM doesn’t need constant refreshing.
ROM
ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is a non-volatile memory.
Different types of ROM Includes: PROM, EPROM, EEPROM.
